After Reading Night

October 29, 2006

This book was better than I suspected.  I suspected this book to be mostly facts on what the Nazis did.  This included real emothions and showed how sentimental people were during the war.  This type of writing reminded me of All Quiet on the Western Front.  I especially thought the last part was interesting when he looked himself in the mirror for the first time in years.  The figure that stared back at him was unfamiliar.

After reading Night, I would like to know more of Elie Wiesel.  The Book did not tell us what happened to him after he was released from the camp.

2/3 of Night

So far in Night, Elie had some problem with his leg.  After getting out of the medical room, he went back to his Block, and forced to go somewhere.  Apparently, the Russians came 2 days after they left…

Night is a very powerful book.  What was interesting about this book was that the leaders of the camp still keep these people alive as opposed to killing them like they did to others.  My question is, what keeps them alive?

Night

I am about 1/3 of the way through Night.  These people were treated terribly however I’ve always thought that they were treated much worse.  I still do not understand how Elie got so lucky in surviving.  He is not physically hurt, and he is still with his father.  By reading this book, I realize how emotionally wrecked prisoners were.

This book is overall very interesting. It is very powerful yet disturbing.

Elie Wiesel’s Night

October 4, 2006

A while ago, I was recommended into reading this.  Several years ago, in english class, we were reading excerps from Anne Frank’s diary which was about a young girl in hiding during World War 2.  I expect Night to be more focused toward surviving the Holocoust. Usually reading books from this time period depress me however they can get very interesting…
