Do We Need Evil To Regulate Behavior?

September 21, 2006

It all depends on how you interpret the question that came up in English class.  Who is American society? Who is We? I would devide this into three catagories: Religion, Politics, and Media.  Yes, they reassert evil, and it is needed.  This world is already reasserting evil.  If evil were to never happen, how can there be good?

Politics use the concept of evil all the time.  They torchure, jail and execute dangerous people (yes, sometimes it’s a mistake)  This is all to protect us.  Just becuase there has been incidences of people wrongly accused of being terrorists, does not mean we should stop executing, and jailing people.  This way, it would regulate behavior, and it should happen…  However, politics should be careful in doing this because if they could get to the point where they start to be ruthless.

People engage in many different kinds of religion.   Generally, all religions believe in a concept of good and evil.  When people take part in religion, they are serious about it.  Therefore, they will listen to the teachings of good and evil.  By doing this, one will have a stronger good side, because they know what evil is.  Everyone may not agree on the definition of evil, but everyone in one type of religion will.  Religion certanly has the power to regulate behavior, and certanly use it.

People are not evil; their actions are.

Even though I contradicted this in my blog, I agree.  People are gerally good, and they do evil things, because society is very corrupt.  For example, Adolf Hitler himself may not be evil, but the fact that he sent Jews to rot in consentration camps was evil….

This is EVIL

Evil is an abstract term.  It is something that everyone is subject to.  Evil is something or someone doing something terrible.  However, there is a source of all evil, known as Saitan.  To some people, he is just an excuse to explain why bad things happen such as genocide, racism, terrorism, war, and other conflicts.  These are some examples of evil that has always existed.  Events that happened in the past can still be seen as evil today.  For example, Hitler will always seen as evil to the whole world.  Everyone has expirienced something evil or certainly done something bad to a certain extent at one point in their lives.
